@ScreenSensitive ScreenSensitive released this 17 Jul 23:24

First public release of RedControl — low-level dithering & display-signal control (DisplayPort + HDMI) for AMD GPUs on Linux, via UMR.

Features

  • Per-output spatial / temporal dithering control (the flicker there's no official Linux switch for), RGB noise, highpass/frame random
  • Color truncation to force a static 6/8/10/12-bit signal
  • Signal panel — live DIG encoder readout (DP & HDMI) with on-wire color-depth forcing; DP++ adapter detection
  • Static Signal Test — CRC-hashes output frames to prove whether temporal GPU dithering is active
  • GPU / monitor scaling (None/Full/Center/Full aspect) + underscan; VRR/FreeSync status
  • Color/depth, colorspace & RGB range; multi-monitor & multi-GPU; command log of every umr write
  • Safe mode changes with 15-second auto-revert; dark & e-ink themes

Requirements

Linux + amdgpu, Python 3 + Tkinter, and umr. One-command install.sh included (installs umr + a menu launcher).

Tested on CachyOS (Arch), Cinnamon / X11, with an RX 6600 and Radeon 780M. Other AMD GPUs with a DCN display engine should work.
