Column Formatting causes Lookup Values to Disappear in Grid View (SharePoint Online)

If I apply any type of formatting to a lookup column, and Edit in Grid View, both the current value and the list of lookup values become invisible when I attempt to select or change a value in that column. This behavior is the same whether I select out-of-the-box formatting or custom JSON.

I am also having this issue. Hopefully my report will give additional useful information.

Our formatting has five separate icons and values, with one of two colours for each of those options.

Edit in Grid View compresses this list, removing the icons and values, and reduces the number of colours to one.
