Recent menu item in the new design

How should we track the recent items so we can display them later.

• Should we create an activity log in their pod somewhere - maybe a dedicated private app-state document referenced from the preferences file, what would data look like?
• should we add metadata on the resource?
• Should we add it to the preferences file? If so what would the data look like?

how many items should we keep, when should we delete them?
