Exporting to mp3

How can I export the “text-to-audio” command as an MP3? Because right now it exports it as a WAV file.

In the latest version of the Subtitle Edit application for Windows, when I click the “text to audio” command, the resulting audio is saved in WAV format, but I want it in MP3 because of the file size. I haven't found any option in the application to change the output audio format.

You can set this:

Follow-up: you can now choose the output audio format. For the waveform right-click "Extract audio…" there are new Options ▸ Waveform settings for format (WAV/MP3/M4A/FLAC) and sample rate, and the save dialog lets you pick the format per export — so MP3/M4A for smaller files is covered. This is in #11272 and will land in the next update.
