Can anyone chime in? Is this clearly a bug? I do not know how it worked in the original game. I ran into this in a GO match:

Not sure. What should it be doing? I would assume it resets the countdown for the Intelligence Scan.

I do not know. A few wikis say it should disable the function of the building, but those same wikis also say the Saboteur can enter Supply Drop Zones, which is not correct. Prima's official guide does not say anything about the Saboteur ability.
Nobody knows.

I have never seen someone use a Saboteur for this in a strategy.
I have seen them used on Supply Centers, production buildings, Command Centers, and superweapons.

I figured it could be kind of strong against Humvee play, but then it did nothing.

Yes, but if someone already has Search and Destroy up, I do not think a Saboteur would change that. If it only freezes the building, the satellites and such are still active, so I would assume Search and Destroy stays active.
Moliere — 11:46
It could disable Search and Destroy for 20–30 seconds or so.

Not sure if it did nothing. It might have reset the timer for the Intelligence Scan.
Moliere — 11:46
That would be pretty weak, but still a cool feature.
It could also block upgrades and disable Battle Plan for a while.

One Saboteur costs $800. Four Terrorists cost $800 total and can completely kill it. Better to go with the second option.
Moliere — 11:47
But since Search and Destroy will detect the Saboteur, I do not see it being viable. Still, it could be added to the game.
Also, you only need three Terrorists.

I like to kill the Rangers too. No witnesses.
Moliere — 11:47
And Search and Destroy is going to detect the Saboteur anyway, unless the US Army anti-stealth ability failed beforehand.
But yes, I think the Saboteur should ideally freeze Battle Plan, even if it would be almost useless.
-NickName- — 11:48
Yes, but if the Battle Plan is already active, I do not think it would stop working.
Not sure if this is a bug or not.
Moliere — 11:48
It should be doing that.
stephm1 — 11:48
Does the Microwave Tank disabling the Strategy Center also not affect the ability?
Moliere — 11:48
Never checked, but I am assuming not.
-NickName- — 11:48
I do not think so.
The satellites are already up, so disabling the building would not change that.
Moliere — 11:49
But again, I think it should work that way. Saboteur and Microwave Tank would not be overpowered because of that anyway.
Might as well add it.
USA has such underwhelming units except Missile Defenders and Humvees.
I hope the big patch gives them a bit more flavor.
MDVee will still rule anyway.

Yes, but is it worth the developers' time?
And is it really a bug?
I cannot imagine a situation where the best option is to use a Saboteur or Microwave Tank on the Strategy Center.
Just Tech Terror it.
stephm1 — 11:54
Yes, probably not a bug then.
Would be a cool feature though.
Moliere — 12:06
To be honest, a Saboteur on a bike sneaking behind defenses and disabling Search and Destroy right before a big fight could be viable, if the Strategy Center is too well protected from Tech Terror.
It would be a cool skill-based move that you would see very rarely.
Currently a Saboteur entering a Strategy Center will only reset the Intelligence Scan countdown, which isn't a very strong attack, and thus is never seen.
Suggested to buff the Saboteur ability by: 1) disabling the strategy center (e.g. cannon doesn't work); 2) disable the ability of the strategy center (e.g. disable the increased weapons range of S&D mode). For 15-30 seconds.
