EliteMining — FAQ

Installation

How do I install the app?

Run EliteMiningSetup.exe and follow the installer.

Can I use EliteMining without VoiceAttack?

Yes. All features work in standalone mode except automated mining sequence control.

How do I import the VoiceAttack profile?

Open VoiceAttack → Profile → Import Profile. Select EliteMining-Profile.vap from the install folder.

Note: Starting with v4.75, the profile is in XML format. You'll need to reconfigure your keybinds one time after importing.

How do I preserve my VoiceAttack keybinds during updates?

Automatic Method (v4.76+): EliteMining will automatically detect when a new VoiceAttack profile is available and prompt you to preserve your keybinds. Simply follow the on-screen instructions:

  1. Export your current profile as XML when prompted
  2. Select the exported file
  3. Your keybinds will be automatically merged into the new profile

Manual Method: If you prefer to do it manually:

  1. Open VoiceAttack
  2. Right-click your EliteMining profile → Export Profile
  3. Save as type: "VoiceAttack Profile Expanded as XML (*.vap)"
  4. Save with a descriptive name (e.g., EliteMining-Backup.vap)
  5. Install the update
  6. Run EliteMining - it will detect the new profile and guide you through the merge process
Does EliteVA need any special setup?

Set Controls in Elite Dangerous to a saved Custom preset. This creates Custom.binds required by EliteVA.

VoiceAttack commands aren't working. What should I check?

Ensure VoiceAttack has plugin support enabled:

  1. Open VoiceAttack → Options → General
  2. Enable "Enable Plugin Support"
  3. Open Plugin Manager
  4. Verify this plugin is checked:
    • ✓ EliteAPI (EliteVA.dll)
  5. Restart VoiceAttack

Without the EliteAPI plugin enabled, game integration won't work.

A mining sequence got interrupted / out of sync — how do I reset it?

If a mining sequence is interrupted and a toggle ends up in the wrong state (e.g. lasers won't fire when they should), use the "Stop and Reset" command (also recognised: "Stop and reset all profile commands", "Stop all", "Reset all") to clear every sequence flag and return the profile to a clean baseline.

How do I find mining hotspots?

Open the app → Hotspot Finder tab. Filter by minerals or ring type. Results show distance and overlap counts.

How do I create HTML reports?

Right-click any mining session in the Reports tab. Select Generate Detailed Report. Add screenshots if needed.

How do I use bookmarks?

Mining Session tab → Bookmarks. Save current location or search saved spots. Includes system and ring details.

What are ship presets?

Saved firegroup and timer configurations for different ships. Create and switch between setups quickly.

My ship preset doesn't load timers or toggles correctly after an update. What should I do?

After major updates, existing ship presets may need to be re-saved to include new or renamed settings. To fix this:

  1. Load your preset from the Ship Presets list
  2. Verify all timers and toggles are set correctly (adjust if needed)
  3. Right-click the preset → Save to update the preset file

This ensures your preset includes all current settings and works correctly with the latest version.

Where are reports stored?

Reports are saved to the Reports/Mining Session/ folder inside the app installation folder.

How do I back up settings and reports?

Open the app → Backup & Restore. You can also copy the install folder to a safe location.

Troubleshooting

The app will not start. What should I try?

Run the app as Administrator. Add an antivirus exclusion for the install folder. Reboot and try again.

Automatic firegroup switching does not work.

Make sure all firegroups A–H are populated in Elite Dangerous. Empty firegroups prevent automated switching even if you don't use them.

Hotspot finder shows no data.

Log out and back into Elite Dangerous once. Make sure the game journal files are accessible to the app.

New hotspots not appearing in Hotspot Finder after scanning?

If you scan a ring and discover new hotspots but they don't appear in the Hotspot Finder results, the mining session may have been running during the scan.

Solution:

  1. Restart the app
  2. Search in the Hotspot Finder - the new hotspots should now appear

Prevention: Stop your mining session before scanning rings for discovery purposes. You can restart the session after scanning is complete.

Mining announcements not working?

Check Settings → Interface → Text-to-Speech. Test voice and volume. Enable announcement filters.

Session data missing after update?

Relog into Elite Dangerous once. The app refreshes location data on first login.

How do I change TTS voice or volume?

Open the app → Settings → Interface → Text-to-Speech. Choose a voice and set the volume.

Support

How do I report bugs or get help?

Join the Discord server or open a GitHub issue. Include steps to reproduce and any relevant log files from the install folder.

Any other tips?

Keep the app updated. Create backups before major changes or updates.
