There currently is no type instability checking. Packages like Cthulhu and JET, as well as the built-in @code_warntype macro can track down potential issues that could cause some performance problems.
This likely isn't a major issue, but given the nature of PlantSimEngine could be worth exploring at some point (or at least documenting for users, who also need to be careful how they define their data).
