PHP WebAuthn issue

When authentication on the Joomla site, passkeez logs the following:

passkeez[2312]: error: unable to map request to `GetAssertion` data type

I tried PasskeeZ authentication on a couple of fresh php-based web applications (Nextcloud, Wordpress, Joomla) and did not get the GetAssertion for any of them.

The Joomla version (5.3.2) of my test installation is the same as for the productive installation, where I get this message, the version numbers of the plugins in question, too. Some installation details differ, but I cannot say what makes the difference.

I observed the error message in the log when accessing two different Joomla sites I use frequently. After setting up fresh Joomla 5 sites in different constellations (direct access from webroot or a subpath, or by reverse proxy) I never observed the message.

I suspect the different observations are caused by different history (the older sites were upgraded from Joomla 3 or earlier to J5) or different extensions. No urgent need for further investigation, so I would close this issue.

Thanks for clarifying. Fido2 has a ton of parameters that influence different aspects of the authentication process. I assume my implementation expects certain parameters not provided by the respective PHP plugin but without a specific plugin + version to test this is only a guess.

I'll leave this open in case something PHP related comes up in the future.
