Site not switching between themes

When I change the theme in _config.yml it doesn't actually toggle between different themes on the rendered website. No matter which theme is selected, the webpage still appears as default. Similarly, any changes I made to the default .css sheets are not reflected on the rendered website. Any thoughts? I have tried all of the other themes, but it only displays default.

Are you referring to local previews or when it's deployed to GitHub Pages? What's the workflow that you are following when updating the theme?

When it is deployed to GitHub Pages. I am trying to change the theme from default to air by modifying _config.yml on GitHub and committing the changes, but there is no change on the deployed website. Any other changes I make to the config file, such as site name, location, institution, etc. are made on the deployed website.

Are you doing a hard refresh of the website once it's deployed?

Yeah, but it's still not working. I tried unpublishing and republishing the site too. It's strange, because all other changes are pushing through to the deployed site.

I just updated the wiki with screenshots of all of the themes, so they do appear to be working correctly. However, when I looked at your _config,yml I noticed that the url setting hasn't been updated:

url                      : https://academicpages.github.io # The base hostname & protocol for your site e.g. "https://[your GitHub username].github.io",
                                                           # or if you already have some other page hosted on Github then use "https://[your GitHub username].github.io/[Your Repo Name]"

You should try updating that to your username since a lot of the paths are hardcoded when the site is deployed. So it's likely that things are updating on GitHub Pages because it's pulling the complied files from the main template's website.
