Marine Models

This directory contains Simulink models and pre-compiled FMUs for Marine Hydrokinetic (MHK) devices developed for grid integration studies.

Device Models

WEC Model - Wave Energy Converter

Complete wave-to-wire model including:

  • Single-body WEC with passive damping control
  • Linear permanent magnet generator (PTO)
  • Energy management system
  • Supercapacitor energy storage
  • Grid-connected inverter with LVRT capability

Files: Simulink models, pre-compiled FMU, figures

CEC Model - Current Energy Converter

Hydrokinetic turbine model including:

  • Physics-based hydrodynamic model
  • PMSG with direct drive
  • Power electronics and grid interface
  • MPPT control system

Files: Simulink models, pre-compiled FMU, parameters, velocity data, figures

Using These Models

  • Standalone: Open .slx files in MATLAB/Simulink for standalone simulation
  • Co-simulation: Use pre-compiled .fmu files with PowerFactory or other FMI-compatible tools
  • Custom Export: Follow the FMU Method and Validation guide to export your own FMUs

Model Requirements

  • MATLAB R2018b or later
  • Simulink with Simscape Power Systems
  • Simulink Coder (for FMU export)
