Hello @LaVol-P I recommend you that check this Homebrew or use PC software to create your own copies: |

Hey there, I'm an audiophile and cinephile who's very much into owning physical media. I'm too broke and too lazy to buy myself a proper bluray drive for my computer so instead I was wondering : what if I could use my ps3 to digitize my entire CD and DVD/BluRay collection ?
When it comes to ripping CDs, the OFW lets you do precisely that, pretty conveniently. But with very lackluster options when it comes to file format encoding : it only offers MP3, AAC or ATRAC and both are lossy formats. I wish there could be a lossless .Wav or .Alac or .Flac encoder, since the ps3 can read these formats
For DVDs and Bluray, that's another ballpark my friend. With Multiman I managed to create ISO copies, very unconveniently because, well... multiman. It worked well with dvds, but was a total failure for blurays. You load the iso through webman and the console says the "disc isn't right" upon launching it.
I could aslo "copy" DVDs and such but it's a total mess, multiman considers them like a game so the movie ends up in the GAMES folder and will be chopped up in separate .VOB videos because a
.VOB file cannot exceed 1gb so it gives you a whole familly of 1gb videos.
Not a huge deal since I can transfer these files that are lossless to my PC and convert them into one file on a more universal format...
Howeveeeeerrr you cannot do an ISO backup of a music CD on any homebrew app that I tried. Shame, cause it could actually let me digitze my library in most lossless way for my money right now.
But even if all of that "works" in some way, I wish I could, again, have options regarding the format of the movie backing up : having the full thing in one .mov file or .mkv or .mp4 and such ?
If it is impossible because of "hardware limitations" I get it, but come on, the PHAT Ps3 can read any type of media in the galaxy, can't we exploit that in a way ?
I know it's super niche, but at the same time a phat ps3 is just the goated media center in all history and no one can deny it. I'm not even sure that I'm adressing this to the right person, webman wasn't so much made for such purposes, maybe I should find the github of Cobra or Multiman, or Movian (if that even exists) ? I don't really know.
To be honest I think webman is by far the best homebrew app for the ps3, it kinda does it all in the best of ways, so much so that I always find myself avoiding completely the other apps as much as possible. I just wish to share my ideas here because I put more faith into webman as a whole maybe ?
Anyway hope you guys can give it a thought and let me know what you think of it !
Have a great one
Seeeeeeeeeeeee ya
