PS2 Games will not copy to the hdd anymore since the new update

So everything is up-to-date. using a 300x model and running ps3netsrv on my nas. ps1 and ps3 games load up fine over the network. and when i play ps2 games it will usually be copied to the internal hdd before launching. now it doesnt. it just says "Error! HEN does not support PS2 ISO, use encrypted game." Is this a system issue or webman issue?

This message is intentional. PS3 HEN does not support PS2 games in ISO format, as the message indicates.

To play PS2 games on PS3 HEN, the ISO must be encrypted with the extension .BIN.ENC. This file is copied to the folder of the PS2 Classics Launcher (aka PS2 Classics Placeholder).

Alternatively you can reinstall previous version that didn't show the error message.

I understand. just now, i successfully copied a game through the web browser and it does work, when i select a ps2 game -> right click and then select "copy to hdd0". i guess there is some kind of issue here. ill reinstall the old version of webman mod then. edit: the issue now is i have to refresh my whole game library again to actually play it. because it wont start and shows me the same error message. i think it still tries to load it through the network altough it is copied to the hdd.

PSN packages have different formats (PS1, PS2, PS3, update, etc.). PS3 packages can be streamed through PS3NETSRV if you copy the extracted content to GAMEI folder. webMAN MOD will mount the game subfolder in GAME a special way that let it play through the app_home icon.

The extracted PS1 and PS2 packages will not work through app_home icon, due they do not contain a PS3 EBOOT.BIN signed for HDD or Bluray disc.

PS1 or PSP games must be ISO. PS2 games should be ISO or .BIN.ENC (encrypted ISO).

You said something before about signing the ps2 emulator .SELF as app_home for mods without having to re-add the hashes into Cobra Stages2 files everytime, how is the placeholder R3 .pkg signed?,
can I generate a PS3 EBOOT.BIN from the .SELF with True Ancestor? & create like a PS3, PS1 or PS2 hybrid .pkg or folder.
I noticed the PS3 trial editions have a C00 folder for the icons &
PARAM.SFO.
Looking in a PS1classic eboot.pbp it contains
DATA.PSP = ?? Some type of file to make it playable on the PSP also.
DATA.PSAR = ISO.BIN.ENC
can I create a EBOOT.PBP to also contain & compress PS1 or PS2 files?

The content type of the PSN packages is defined the CATEGORY field of PARAM.SFO. Each content type is handled in a diferent way by GameOS. THe PS2 placeholder is basically a regular PKG containing a generic .EDAT. All the custom .BIN.ENC are encrypted using the same key to allow the replacement.

As far as I know, you cannot convert from one content type or another, with little exceptions for Bluray content that can be converted to HDD content and vice versa.

In regard to the custom hashes in Cobra stage2, I remember that the feature was necessary because every time a VSH.SELF or explore_plugin.self was customized it was required to compile a stage2 with the new hashes. However, the hash algorithm was updated to be less strict in the allowed changes. I don't remember if that feature is still present in Cobra 8.5. You have to check in Evilnat's repository or ask him.

I think I might need to update my webmanmod or ps3netsrv installation, Nortan is throwing a hissy fit at it, "I didnt buy it, it came as a free junkware promo from the pc manufacturer 🤣, they can't give that trash away"
I had to keep unblocking it everytime out of Quarantine, what a royal pita.

I can see the net folders & ps2 iso in the webmanmod setup / webpage but the xmb isn't listing them or adding them as new content after the console reset or list refreshes.

So can I generate a .rif or .rap for rpcs3 usage with it using the fake Apollo act.dat?

PS2 placeholder already uses a pseudo "free" license in the .EDAT files that it uses to launch the ISO. That means that it uses a constant klicense must be used to sign all .BIN.ENC with the same key. Cobra 8.5 has hard coded the rif key, so the PS2 placeholder works without install the rap.

I checked the emulator .self in break & make self / elf an it uses the exact same key.
I tried bruteforcing the key from a custom PS2Classic EDAT, it listed the content id but the hash / klic is missing, i'm not sure if I made a valid custom PS2Classic, that additional limg thing only adds the klic to the unencrypted iso?
webmanmod doesn't support multiple discs yet for ps2 does it? the newer custom PS2Classic lets you add up to 9 discs I think.

The easiest way to properly convert your PS2 ISOs to PS2 Classics is using Apollo Save Tool or multiMAN.
However, as far as I remember, they don't support multiple discs.

For your tests use single disc PS2 games... don't overcomplicate.

Thanks, I was talking about this experimental one.

There's actually a longbox ps2 game that uses a larger case within a case, with two standard cases side by side, I think it was two discs and a soundtrack cd, some rare jprg.

remove some extra data in iso with HxD, search
for LIMG in the last sector and delete these lines to the end.

This method is the only one that works for me to decrypt the ISO.BIN.ENC to a valid .ISO everything else produces garbage that can't be opened by CDMage or IsoBuster, that includes Apollo & PS2Classics_GUI.
