Import Axios in backend

From within my backend code I use axios for http requests. Executing the compiled APK I get the following error:

                                                                                                         ^^^^^
                                                                                                    
 SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier
    at new Script (vm.js:79:7)
...

I know that sometimes the problem is in front of the keyboard... but the error message is not obvious for me as other imports are working fine.
