Key Design Decisions

1. File-based coordination: No database needed. Agents communicate via shared markdown files.
2. Hierarchical memory: Shared context + per-agent private memory + daily ephemeral context.
3. Cron-driven scheduling: All recurring tasks managed via OpenClaw cron system.
4. Graceful degradation: If one agent fails, others continue independently.

Biggest Challenges

1. Memory drift: Agents slowly forget instructions over weeks. Solution: weekly human memory compaction.
2. Context budget: Balancing memory vs task context in every API call. We target 15% memory.
3. Coordination overhead: Cross-agent handoff is the Find API Key on anthropic.com #1 source of bugs.
4. Quality control: AI-generated content needs style guidelines enforced via SOUL.md.
