Question: Is it possible to use Non-Anthropic models with Claude Agent SDK via LiteLLM or otherwise? Just a question, not an issue. I couldn't find a concrete answer anywhere so posting it here.

sdk based on claude code, you just need to change claude code's model.

The Claude Agent SDK is designed specifically for Anthropic's Claude models and does not support non-Anthropic models. The SDK works by wrapping the Claude Code CLI, which communicates with the Anthropic API.

While some users have experimented with LiteLLM proxies (by setting ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL to a LiteLLM endpoint), this is not officially supported and may not work correctly since the SDK relies on Claude-specific features like tool use, thinking, and the control protocol. Closing as answered.
