There are many great DataFusion collaborators in China as well as many other nearby asian countries (@Jefffrey @duongcongtoai , @xudong963 @zhuqi-lucas @chenkovsky , @hhhizzz and many more) Getting people together has been super valuable exercise I have found for building community It is probably a bit late in the year to organize something in 2025, but perhaps in 2026? @waynexia is there anything I can do to help organize this one? |

A meetup in Asia came up again recently on LinkedIn (link) 
I suspect that finding a spot that wasn't US centric and was easier for others to get to would be useful. I think @xudong963 and @waynexia both said they might be interested in helping to organize a meetup. I was also thinking maybe Singapore or Japan would be potentially good places to host a meetup (we would need to find someone to help find a venue). I think @Jefffrey is in Japan (not sure if he knows something), and @phillipleblanc is in Korea. Maybe @goldmedal has some ideas Basically, if someone is willing to find the time/ space I will do my best to attend and publicize the event as well. |

yeah, I know getting a US visa is hard for some (and unfortunately a China visa is hard for me). That is why I was thinking some third country in asia might be a plausible middle groupd |

@alamb Macau and Hong Kong are visa-free for US citizens. Tokyo is a bit harder, since Chinese citizens need a visa for Japan. |

We can have one in mainland China, and another in a convenient place for most of the others outside of the mainland. Tokyo looks great for those from Japan and Korea, and even the US (need more travel fee though...). Both Japanese and Korean visas are not hard for Chinese citizens to get. (BTW, a permit is required for us to visit Macau or Hong Kong XD) |

This building offers parking at ￥15/h and a maximum of ￥80/day. I updated other details in the luma page. I don't know if there is a WeChat group either, maybe we can build one tomorrow if there is not |
