@cgivre this looks good. We need to do the same upgrade to the Hadoop native libraries for Windows. While there are some trustworthy builds of those maintained by volunteers with known affiliations, they often lag by a number of versions. Regardless, the practice of a Drill maintainer building the libraries from the Hadoop source is good to limit exposure.

On to the meat of my message: building those libs on a Windows VM is a pain, or was when I last did it. So do you want to go ahead and merge this so we get the major benefits into the master branch and I'll senda follow up PR with the Windows native libs?
