AttributeError module 'browserforge.download' has no attribute 'DATA_FILES'

Hello,

I am getting this error message when trying to use PlaywrightCrawler: AttributeError module 'browserforge.download' has no attribute 'DATA_FILES'

Example code:
from crawlee.crawlers import PlaywrightCrawler, PlaywrightCrawlingContext

I ran into this as well. This is because the playwright crawler specifies any version of browserforge greater than or equal to 1.2.3 is allowed:

As a result, whichever package manager you're using (both uv and pip do this, not sure about others) will download the latest version which is 1.2.4. However, the DATA_FILES attribute was changed to DATA_DIRS between 1.2.3 and 1.2.4, hence this issue. Easiest fix is just to pin browserforge to 1.2.3 until a new release of this library is released.

Of note, this also breaks many previous versions of crawlee-python. I have a project using version 1.2.1 and it also has this same issue.

Confirmed: Installed browserforge 1.2.3, and the problem is gone.

The fix was merged last week, but has not yet been released. We will just do some more testing and release a new version.

This should no longer be an issue in the latest beta (crawlee==1.3.2b4). A stable release will be published later today. Closing this as resolved.
