I dont see a point in that: just don't set the background effect and the LED will be turn off automatically when locked.

Here's the use case - you don't always want screen capture turned on. Let's say you're viewing something dark, but you want backlights on.

I have macros that tell hyperhdr to turn off screencapture, and go into idle state, where a background effect is on.

If I didn't have this set up, it would mean that if I disabled hyperhdr, then I'll have to use a different switch somewhere else to reactivate the led (that's if the controller is responsive enough to realise right away that hyperhdr's udp stream is off - which usually isn't the case). So having the idle mode background effect on hyperhdr is a very nice and important feature, which allows instantaneous switching.

I understand your point. However, from a maintainer's perspective - as is always the case with a free project running almost exclusively on my limited time - I have to consider a few key factors: how significant is the problem caused by the absence of this feature (especially since there are workarounds available, both the one I mentioned and yours), how many users would actually benefit from it, and the extent of the changes (or potential breaking changes) this functionality would require.

Of course, I'd be glad to contribute though this isn't in a stack I'm familiar with. In any case, I hope the enhancement ticket here helps others who may be looking for similar. Thanks
