- Units and dimensional analysis
- Atomic radiation phET lab
- Color and radiation lab
- Spectra LP and presentation
These labs are both for my scientific inquiry class. Students are undergraduate non-STEM majors, primarily freshmen. Labs consist of packets that students fill out in lieu of a full lab report, and an Excel template that they complete alongside.
- Exoplanets (packet, excel template): data processing, building power laws, testing models.
- Excel Tutorial (packet, excel template): basic math, using cell references, copying formulas.
These notes are all for my scientific inquiry class. Students are undergraduate non-STEM majors, primarily freshmen. The samples here cover different points throughout the semester-long course.
- Models and "the" Scientific Method: guided notes, accompanying ppt
- Uncertainty and Statistics: guided notes, accompanying ppt
- Building Models from Scratch: guided notes, accompanying ppt
- Scattering: guided notes, accompanying ppt
A pre-lab lecture video for Scientific Inquiry. This was a substitute for an in-person class meeting because there was a school holiday. This class happens on week 8 of a 13-week semester.
Discusses ...
- What is a model?
- How do we test models?
- How can we use linear regression analysis to test a non-linear model?
