Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-05-08

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Squad Up Decky Loader plugin and its associated hosted services (the "Squad Up Worker" and "Squad Up bot"), collectively "Squad Up", operated by binaryj (the "Author").

By installing or using Squad Up, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Squad Up.

1. License

The Squad Up plugin source code is licensed under the BSD 3-Clause License. You may use, modify, and redistribute the source under the terms of that license. These Terms govern your use of the hosted services, not the source code itself.

2. No warranty

Squad Up is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Use of Squad Up is at your own risk.

3. Service availability

The Squad Up Worker and bot are hobby-tier hosted services. The Author makes no guarantee of uptime, performance, latency, or continued availability. Either service may be interrupted, throttled, restarted, or discontinued at any time without notice. Squad Up will continue to function locally on your Steam Deck where possible (e.g. opening Discord channels in your browser) even when the hosted services are unavailable.

4. Discord's terms still apply

Squad Up integrates with Discord's API and the Discord platform. Your use of Discord through Squad Up remains subject to Discord's own terms and policies, including:

If your Discord account is suspended, terminated, or rate-limited by Discord for any reason, Squad Up cannot restore access on your behalf.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Squad Up to abuse, harass, or violate the privacy of other Discord users.
  • Reverse engineer or interfere with the hosted services beyond what's permitted under their open-source license.
  • Use Squad Up in violation of any applicable law or Discord's policies.

6. Privacy

Squad Up's data handling is described in the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

7. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as Squad Up evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the Effective date at the top of this file and announced in the project's release notes on GitHub. Continued use of Squad Up after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Author is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of Squad Up, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. The Author's total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or use of Squad Up is limited to zero dollars (USD $0), reflecting the no-cost, hobby-project nature of the software.
