Bug: Sound distorted, crackling after update to Tahoe 26.2

The recent update to Tahoe 26.2 appears to have created some distortion at peak amplitudes while watching videos on YT.

I have restarted eqMac, and refreshed the Safari but the crackling sound persists.

Are you using latest eqMac? Also are you using any other software for audio handling at the same time? What output device are you using or does it happen with built-in speakers as well?

Hi Lina,

I'm using App. 1.8.12 on an M1 MBP running Tahoe 26.2. No other software for audio assistance is being used. I'm using a pair of AirPod Pro while using Safari to view YT videos.

The scratchy sound goes away when I quit eqMac and returns when restarting it.

This has happened before and I was able to grab a beta update which eliminated the static sound. however, now it has returned!

'grab a beta update' you mean an eqMac beta? do you remember which or around what time that was? In Github releases you can find older versions and see if issue disappears with an older version.

When you updated to Tahoe, did you also update eqMac around same time from beta to stable 1.8.12? Or you were already using 1.8.12 without issue for some time and then updated to Tahoe?

Well, I seem to have fixed it by selecting away from the Spoken Word EQ settings then back to it. No more distortion

Hey, I'm encountering a similar issue (it only seemed to start today).
Here's a video of what happens in the interface when the crackle/distortion occurs.

macOS 26.4.1 (25E253)
eqMac v1.8.15 (driver v2.6.0, interface v5.5.4)
