Excellent work on this, and thank you for being willing to expand the scope for a larger but better fix!

Please ensure this fix is tested on the feature since the changes aren't feature flagged. Also, asking QA for a quick smoke test of some of the SSO scenarios wouldn't be a bad ask here either as those are mission critical.
