Thank you! I'm afraid I don't have an example of password logins.

In the case of password logins, you want to direct the user to IdentityServer and for the user to get the token there before being redirected back to your website. You want to do it this way so that if you switch token provider, you don't need to recode your login page, just redirect to a new provider (Google, Azure AD etc).
