Chat seems to be out of sync

Also noticed in the first query.. cozmo response is spaces. Only change I did was changing microphone device index to '1' from 2 in the existing code.

The process for Cozmo's chat functionality at the moment is as follows:

• Get user input from microphone
• Send input to Google for recognizing
• Retrieve parsed input and send to AI chatbot
• Get response from chatbot and play through Cozmo.

I know it's a rather long and clunky process, but I haven't been able to find something better/more efficient. Unfortunately since Cozmo relies on external processing for most things we are stuck with sending and receiving questions and responses. If anything in this external process breaks, then Cozmo will not reply correctly.

It is my intention to optimize the chat responses as much as possible; however, since these functions happen with the help of external systems the scope is limited.

I checked the chatbot that Cozmo is using for his replies; it works fine. I think that the out of sync issue has to do with the first reply being blank. For some reason, the first user input comes back empty and then all the questions are being processed one step behind.
My feeling is that it has to do with Google voice recognition not parsing the user input fast enough, which results in a timeout.

I'll try to do some debugging but at the moment I have very limited time to do meaningful work on the project.

In the meantime, see if you can work around the bug by making some "empty" initial statements (like "hello") 2-3 times, until Cozmo's replies are "in sync".
