Unloading Site Resources When Inactive – Is It Possible?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a way to unload a website's resources when it's inactive, unlike the usual behavior where a site stays loaded until further action is taken. Specifically, I want the browser to automatically unload the site after a set period of user inactivity.

The idea is to detect when the user becomes inactive (e.g., no interaction for a few minutes) and then free up resources by unloading the site. Ideally, the site would reload when the user returns.

Is there a method to achieve this? Any suggestions or best practices would be greatly appreciated!

Firstly please make sure you've read the first section of https://github.com/cefsharp/CefSharp/wiki/General-Usage

then free up resources by unloading the site. Ideally, the site would reload when the user returns.

CEF doesn't provide an API that I'm aware of that would achieve this. You can discuss your requirements on https://www.magpcss.org/ceforum/viewforum.php?f=5

You could navigate to a You have been inactive for x minutes page, long as it's on a different domain then the render process will switch causing the old one to be freed. You can disable the back forward cache.
