Main tools

Github

We use Github for as much as possible. Our organisation on GitHub is https://github.com/codeforireland2

Some Github guidance

  • Repositories are where we store the code for each project ... one project per repository
  • The Project tool (within each repository) can be used for organising the work
  • There is a Wiki set up for Code for Ireland (the one you are reading now)... you can create Wikis for the project if that's useful.
  • Link link link - please hyperlink as much as possible so it's easy for people to find stuff.

Slack

Slack will be used used for chatter amongst the community, particularly when we have events. Our Slack organisation is https://codeforireland.slack.com/

Other tools

There are a bunch of other tools that we use from time to time.

Email

Where would we be without it. There are some obvious limitations to email, so we prefer as much as possible to have decisions etc, online, on Github

Google Tools

  • Drive - for sharing files, collaborative documents, presentations, etc
  • Hangouts - for group video conferencing
  • Calendar - for organising events

Trello

We have a list of projects that we have worked on in this Trello board
