Well, it begins. I'm not sure if I'll do another travelogue anytime soon, because I honestly don't like traveling a lot of the time. I'd much prefer to stay home. New surroundings, people, food, and being away from my dad on top of that stresses me out a good bit. But my older brother really wanted to go, and my mom said we should once and never again (at least she doesn't want to come back here), and so dragged me along. Now, I'm not mad about that at all; at least I can enjoy myself knowing fate is what dragged me here and not have to ruminate on whether or not I should've stayed home.

We took an early morning flight (or maybe a late-night flight?) at about 3 am to Narita. I drank a Red Bull right before the trip because I needed the energy to sustain myself on the plane (I don't want to be tired on a plane; I can't sleep in one and I would probably just writhe in my seat like a worm). It was a 9 and a half hour flight from DXB, the longest I think I've been in in ages, and I spent about half of it just replaying Cave Story for the... 10th? time. We arrived at about 5 pm JST and got to our hotel in Ginza. While my mom, sister and brother went out for dinner, I just went to bed; they slept on the plane while I didn't, sleep was a lot more important to me than food, and given my gut-brain axis was all out of whack at that point in time, I wasn't hungry anyway.

Today was somewhat eventful. Tokyo's being hit with a typhoon at the moment though I think it's subsided; the wind and rain were both absolutely mad. Reminds me of Dubai about 2 years ago when we had that insane flood, though the infrastructure in Tokyo was quite well equipped to handle it and there wasn't much of a flood, just tons of rain. So, while we did go places, we didn't walk around much. We stopped at Yodobashi Camera first in Akiba, not much to say. Then we went down to Book Off where I picked up about 9 Famicom games and had great fun looking for stuff. I got City Connection, Seicross, BurgerTime (I love my early 3rd gen gaming, after all), but also Ganbare Goemon Gaiden: Kieta Ōgon Kiseru and Double Dragon 2, those are the ones in memory; I got more.

We also stopped at a few small stores. Saw Chrono Trigger for the DS and it playing on a TV in a small game store, so I said something like "Chrono Trigger, that's the best game ever!" before my little sister retorts with "That's just your opinion." and ever the troll, I replied "It's the truth. No one who's played it has said it sucks; look at you with your over 200 hours in Dead By Daylight deciding which games are good." Definitely going back to Akiba, though, when stuff dies down; I hope to do the massive Steins;Gate pilgrimage extravaganza when I do, as well as visit some of the stores that only specialize in retro-games. I'd like to pick up some PC-Engine stuff. Possibly Pac-Land, I think the TG-16/PCE port is probably the best one out of all of the ports.

Ended the day with a meal at a halal ramen place in Ginza. I had the chicken karaage, my sister had spicy beef ramen, my mom had tempura shrimp and gyoza. The chicken karaage was great stuff, though the new flavors were still a bit scary to me. They were good though, it's just that I'm not used to new flavors and textures and I'm somewhat picky even if I like what I'm eating. However, I had ramune to drink and the stuff was literally like crack. I might say it's one of the best-tasting soft drinks I've ever had. I had two glasses of the stuff. I had the blueberry one, it tasted like bubble gum, which I love. Wish I could get this stuff back home without it costing my kidney, I might literally stock up on them.

We hit up Donki after that, which was quite insane. I don't think I've ever been in a supermarket that was so... visually loud. I got a good few boxes of matcha KitKat and I had an entire box of them... guilty, but I'm on vacation, baby, who cares? I got the blueberry cheesecake ones too, haven't had them yet. I got a Gengar trapper hat from there which is pretty cool, as well as a Boo and Shy Guy plushie.

All in all, so far, Tokyo's pretty fun.
