Error with empty tables

Hi there,

I got the following error report in Kreuzberg: kreuzberg-dev/kreuzberg#104

Namely, when a pdf has no tables, an error is raised. Is this expected behavior? If it is, I will handle in Kreuzberg, otherwise it needs to be handled in this lib.

Thanks for the report! To be honest, I might not be able to resolve the issue in a timely manner (in the middle of a rework). I'll look into it, but no guarantees - sorry.

It's not expected behavior, but I also don't understand how the error is raised.

If a PDF has no tables, I expect the detector should just return an empty list and no pandas stuff gets created. My bet is that there is a table which is over nothing (or perhaps over text that requires OCR), resulting in an empty pandas dataframe and some stuff happens after that. I will keep an eye out for a similar error messages, but please let me know if I'm wrong.

I guess I can add a test for this, but I can verify that in the past gmft has worked with pdfs without tables.

Its ok. I am vendoring parts of GMFT into kreuzberg and will fix there. I am giving full credit of course (it will be part of v4) - in ATTRIBUTIONS.md, in the source code and in the docs.
