I've been involved with Battlesnake for 5 years now, [since 2021](https://github.com/coreyja/battlesnake-rs/commit/ebd84eecc9ca89f7c05259a60c8ff764b469435f) when I built my first snake. It feels like both forever and no time at all.

A little while back I got a [blink(1)](https://blink1.thingm.com/), which is a cool little USB light that is fully programable. While it's been really fun to play with but I haven't really used it for much. Recently I was talking with some coworkers and realized that a great use for it would be as a Github status indicator, telling me the status of a specific Github branch. I'll have it set up to track our main branch and report on the CI status.

For close to the last year I’ve been brainstorming about courses I could produce. I have one that I’m excited about, where we build a Rust Web Server from scratch, but it’s going to take me a sec to develop. In the meantime, I’ve been doing my research to understand better what junior developers are itching for in their learning. And I think I stumbled upon something that you all will love; Side Project Starter Kits!

I posted my last blog post to Reddit, and one of the responses I got was about how my blog was hard to read due to the low contrast between my colors and my backgrounds. Shoutout to [@Narishma for pointing this out](https://www.reddit.com/r/rust/comments/9yek2s/using_rust_faster_devicon_file_preview_with_fzf/ea3xhpb/)!

Silicon Valley Season 2 ruined it for me. Richard had worked so hard on Pied Piper, but Gavin is almost able to steal it from him. Why? Cause Richard pulled down the code he had written on his work device and ran the test suite. How could something so trivial almost cost him so much! That season embedded itself in me, and now I try to keep my personal and professional software as separate as can be. And one thing this requires is having a personal machine, on top of the computer provided by my employer.
