Is there a reason to keep qt5 support? Also wayland support to the AppImage can be added like so https://github.com/has207/xenia-edge/blob/edge/.github/workflows/CI.yml

Is there a reason to keep qt5 support?

The only reason is incase any other users are needing to build it with Qt5, but everything this project does 'officially' is using Qt6. I'm willing to keep Qt5 support as a best effort if someone wants to contribute pull requests, but I won't be addressing any Qt5 specific issues myself.

Everything works but for an optimal experience it shouldn't rely on xwayland.

But what exactly does "optimal" mean? I'm not a Linux user so I am curious.

Eeh that + some people will just remove xwayland from their systems soon (most are waiting on steam client)

You said it yourself "high DPI support, UI difference, performance" those are real benefits.

Wayland has been becoming the new standard display server since 2017. Several major desktop environments are Wayland-first or Wayland-only.

X11 was the old standard. Wayland supports X11 using XWayland, but it isn't the same as native Wayland.

Having native Wayland support allows for features not available on X11. These include VRR, fractional scaling, HDR, tear-free rendering, performance improvements, security improvements.

If someone wants to make PR including wayland, and it doesnt overcomplicate things or greatly inflate the appimage then I'm fine with that.
