parted-1.8.8 is not building

What steps will reproduce the problem?
followed the guide for building parted-1.8.8 on this site

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I get an integer overflow error

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ubuntu 9.10

Please provide any additional information below.

I get the same errors on Ubuntu 10.04

pull parted-2.3, atvrev support is build in.
