Setting Design Doesn't Work

• I am using the latest stable version of DDEV

Expected Behavior

Running this command doesn't work, at least on Windows WSL

ddev dotenv set .ddev/.env.adminer --adminer-design=dracula

The .env.adminer file does have:

ADMINER_DESIGN="dracula"

But it always loads the default layout.

Actual Behavior

Nothing happens, it just loads the default layout.

But if it doesn't work for you, then you probably have some outdated/broken Docker image, fix it with:

docker pull adminer:standalone
ddev restart

Sorry, I can't share that as it has sensitive data in the paths. Thanks for your help, I'll try and figure it out.

For what it's worth a couple of friends have also tried it and it doesn't work for them either. One on Windows, one on a Mac.

No need to run this using some real project, just create some directory in your $HOME, run ddev config inside that dir, set the design variable, install this add-on, restart.

If it doesn't work with a dummy project either, provide ddev debug test from there.

OK, I created a new project and ran:

ddev config
ddev add-on get ddev/ddev-adminer
ddev dotenv set .ddev/.env.adminer --adminer-design=dracula
ddev restart

The default still loads for me. I have included the debug log with this message. I'm running Docker Desktop/DDev on Windows 11.

Thank you for the ddev debug test, I tried to reproduce using a similar setup as yours and still the theme works fine for me.

Try to run this (you can stop it with Ctrl+C later):

docker run -e ADMINER_DESIGN=dracula -p 127.0.0.1:8080:8080 -it --rm adminer:standalone

And open http://127.0.0.1:8080 in your browser:

If it doesn't work, try setting a different design instead of dracula https://www.adminer.org/en/#extras

Still no luck changing the theme, even with the docker run command?
Then it's not a DDEV issue - check for related issues upstream:

Thanks for the info, I will have an update soon. At the moment I can't get Docker to start. Not sure if it has anything to do with the recent AWS outage? Or maybe it's just Win11 playing up again. For adminer it might be best if I just add the '/var/www/html/adminer.css' file. It's what I've done in the past on other Linux setups. That does work fine.

Our recommendation is to use "Docker CE inside WSL2" option, without using Docker Desktop.

Ok, I uninstalled ddev and docker desktop and started again. I ran the ddev installer and used the "Docker CE inside WSL2" option. Everything is working, but still, setting the adminer theme doesn't work, it always loads the default.

I ran "docker run -e ADMINER_DESIGN=dracula -p 127.0.0.1:8080:8080 -it --rm adminer:standalone" and also tried different themes, but everytime it shows the default theme. I will try just adding the adminer.css file instead, maybe that will be the best option for me?
