GitFlow is currently an advised way of managing Drupal projects, but this requires a local copy of the project.
GHA https://github.com/hoangvvo/gitflow-workflow-action allows to release from the GH UI. Need to assess this GHA package for viability and security (as it will require write access tot he codebase).
