Hi! At least for asdf, the command check fails for me because process.cwd() is / - not my project's folder, where I have .tool-versions so asdf's elixir shim will be available. Like in this issue: JakeBecker/vscode-elixir-ls#109

So, the solution is to do the following? (With whatever versions)

The real solution would be to modify the check to execute elixir command on *nix via a shell script that detects and activates asdf/mise similarily to what launch.sh does. Maybe modifying launch.sh to accept a new param and simply exec into elixir

• mise doctor and fixes all problems (for me, commenting export PATH="$PATH:~/.local/bin" in ~/.zshrc)
• and source it
• Disable/Enable extension
• Reload window (Cmd + Shift + P and type Developer: Reload Window in vscode)

I start VS Code from the GUI, and Elixir can be used in a VS Code terminal.

I've installed the ElixirLS 0.27.2 extension in VS Code, but I get this error:

Failed to run 'elixir' command. ElixirLS will probably fail to launch. Logged PATH to Development Console.

The Debug Console (is that the same as the Development Console mentioned?) is empty.

However, code completion and formatting does in fact work, and I can run Elixir files from the VS Code terminal.

I'm experiencing the same issue where ElixirLS fails to launch with the error Failed to run 'elixir' command. ElixirLS will probably fail to launch. Logged PATH to Development Console.
My setup is as follows:

• Multi-root workspace with different folders containing Elixir projects, that have different versions
• Using mise as version manager with .tool-versions file in projects folder, so I don't have a global elixir set
• The project folders have "elixirLS.useCurrentRootFolderAsProjectDir": true in .vscode/settings.json, to prevent them from trying to get to the root.

What am I missing? @lukaszsamson were you able to find a solution that doesn't rely on setting local versions in ~?

I don’t quite understand your setup. Please share a repo with example projects. Multi root workspaces are supported. In each root the extension should start a separate instance of language server. Besides, the elixir command error is not related to actual language server start script.

The project/backend/.vscode/settings.json has the following:

There is no mention of elixir in project/.vscode/project.code-workspace.

If I run which elixir, in /project I get:

Which makes sense since I don't have an Elixir version set globally.

If I run which elixir in /project/backend, for example, I get:

My assumption is that the extension is trying to kick-off ElixirLS in the /project folder, that has no awareness of elixir.

I can provide you with an example project, but bear in mind that you'd still need to remove any global mentions of elixir from your PATH.

Disregard the error notification Failed to run 'elixir' command. The check is faulty. What is important is if the language servers are started. Open a .ex file and observe the Output tab. You should see 2 ElixirLS outputs.
