Can't fill forms

I have a pdf with existing fields, I can't seem to type into them no matter what. If i go into form menu, I can select the field, but no way to type into them. Is there some config I am missing? Seems very weird. Would appreciate help.

Can you send the PDF? You should be able to edit the fields if you are on the "view" tab. If you click on the "form" tab, it goes to edit mode! then you are able to edit and change the fields.

Hmm, looks like I was wrong, but there are some bugs... In my pdf, the typing is invisible, but once I click outside the pdf, the typed text shows up in the field. No cursor or anything else shows up in the field itself.

I can't quite send this pdf without revealing personal info, so I will try to find another pdf it happens on. Have you seen this issue before?

In macos safari, or preview, or onlyoffice, all the fields show up and are fillable:

In embedpdf, none of these are fillable.

The fields are also fill-able using PDF.js in the form @bxtcns4tdp-art uploaded. With embed-pdf-viewer the checkboxes all work, but I can only fill in two of the text fields:

• Your first name and middle initial
• Married filing separately (MFS). Enter spouse’s SSN above and full name here:

I ran into the same issue. I could fill out one form fine, but another one was unresponsive. Diffing the two files, the broken one sets the font size to 0 in every field's /DA (default appearance) string.

Per PDF 1.7 §12.7.3.3, a /DA font size of 0 means "size shall be computed automatically to fit the annotation rectangle" — Acrobat and most readers honor this. In @embedpdf/plugin-form, the renderers compute size as (object.fontSize ?? 12) * scale; since ?? only handles null/undefined, a literal 0 passes through and the input renders at 0px, which would explain the issue.
