Allow to verify certificates

@motobob Maybe we should, at least in significant part. I've found some runtime issues with the erlcloud lhttpc on OTP 21. Not sure if it's miniclip/lhttpc@f166ab0 or miniclip/lhttpc@2f4dc89 or something else, but I suspect we're going to need to pull some part of this in, preferably not with the lager addition.

i'm more than happy to but i would do it slightly differently in terms of implementation.
let me know what issue you see and lets adopt the changes one by one.
