Version communication error

I had to update this and my Smods and it refused to recognize it was 0.9.0 and not 0.8.0 even after several attempts to replace it or make sure I had the right version

Are you sure you correctly followed all of the steps? Make sure to delete the old version.dll and replace it with the new one.

So i have this same issue i know for a fact the lovely version i download is 9.0 but when i use the latest smods "smods-1.0.0-beta-1531zeebee" it says its 8.0 and crashes the game. i havent had this issue before so.
