I was unable to see the meshtastic device in bitchat without these changes. perhaps I was mistaken and that is by design. |

hmm i am able to see my meshtastic heltev-v3 in bitchat but sometimes ive been needing to reboot it, ill try with your changes and see if its more seamless |

I was able to see the Meshtastic device (heltec v3) from iphone, MacOS, and Android bitchat. I have not been able to test with another meshtastic device but am working toward that. Opening this draft just in case someone wants to compile and try it out.
