General Availability of Source Decomposition?

I asked about this in a different thread ~6 months ago (https://github.com/forcedotcom/cli/discussions/2993#discussioncomment-15018026,) but never got a response so re-surfacing as a new post...

Are there plans to take this functionality out of Beta status and make it GA? Not sure if it's been forgotten about it and is just a matter of formality, or are there further plans for it that are preventing it from going to GA?

We are glad that you are getting some value out of the decomposition beta. Decomposition of metadata's source representation is super helpful to avoid merge conflicts and help make source control more manageable for Salesforce projects. We are working hard to get decomposition to a generally available status, but we don't have a firm timeline that we can communicate at this very moment.

As an alternative until Salesforce makes decomposing metadata GA, you or any other CLI user can always consider looking into my 3rd party plugin, https://github.com/mcarvin8/sf-decomposer , which handles a wide case of decomposing including cases we don't have general CLI support for. I've done a lot of work adding more real-world examples to thoroughly test this plugin produces identical output (albeit with more consistent sorting). Just throwing it out there.
