My name is Adeel Khan. I am a Canadian. I like Science.
One of my core philosophies is to leave a place slightly better than how I experienced it. The biggest problems present the biggest opportunities.

- whisper-opensesame - Private repository. voice to text transcription powered by openai's whisper
- As of June of 2026, runs on an older apple computer that is atleast 12 years old and without a GPU
- There are a few other private repos (not on the Readme), where a very preliminary set of code exists for developing knowledge graphs
- For now, the standard voice to text transcription is deployed
- Background: vs code speech extension stopped working on linux. I created an issue for it here and the decision was that there was no plan to revive this functionality for linux in the future (see the link). I was looking for a solution that could:
- process the audio locally
- did not require a GPU
- ideally was free (within reason) and without my data being trained for purposes I did not even have the ability to consent to
- I would not have to wait 5 to 15 minutes for the transcription to complete every single time
- something that could be deployed for shorter bursts. 1 to 4 minute duration audio transcriptions
- and so I requested the enablement of this tool and have been chipping away at it

I once met Jonathan Frakes (Commander. Riker in StarTrek) at ComicCon Toronto. Albeit briefly. That was really cool!
Thanks for reading!
