Organisation level Agent not showing up

Before i start, i am exploring the usage of copilot, still new to this.
I have created a repo under {org}/.github-private and im expecting that the Agents inside will show up on my CLI tool, or even vs code tool. But nothing shows up.
I did use the proper template and the name spacing looks good.

When i run /agent i see this warning

Custom Agents

The following agents have warnings:
• could not load remote agents, no GitHub remote found

So to sum up just wondering if this is how its supposed to work, create a .github-private repo, create some md file with agent instructions and that should show up for my org or at ones who have acccess to the repo.

Update to this, i made it work on VS Code by enabling the preview feature which works great now... But on copilot cli still doesnt work

+1 to this issue, we also use a .github-private/agents setup which is not working in github-cli. This setup works fine with both VS Code and the copilot web UI at https://github.com/copilot/agents however

We use .github-private/agents/*.agent.md to share custom agents across our org. They work in VS Code, but not in Copilot CLI. We'd love to see support for loading organization agents from .github-private in the CLI as well.

Maybe some more info for those of you who have the ability to fix this issue.

Same setup for us.
Org level custom agents that works on github.com, vscode, etc.
Folder .github-private/copilot and pointed from enterprise.

One difference from others might be that we have SSO and SCIM.
Besides this I use two kinds of tokens. Classic and fine grain.
Same results for both of the tokens.

While running copilot cli with logging level "all" I see log lines like these:
"No auth info available, skipping custom agents load"
"Request to GitHub API at https://api.enterprise.githubcopilot.com/agents/swe/custom-agents//?exclude_invalid_config=true&include_sources=org,enterprise failed with status 404"
"[WARNING] Failed to load custom agents for /: Not Found"

Also seeing this issue. Copilot CLI is not picking up org level agents.

Same here… is there any workaround for this?

I ended up having everyone symlink the agent files into ~/.copilot/agents just to make them show up in the CLI, but then they appear duplicated in VS Code.
