I use Azure DevOps so there's little use for the GitHub MCP and I want to preserve as much context as I can.

+1. There are use cases where one would like extra context window size, to disable mcp server tools that won't be used.

You can currently do copilot --disable-mcp-server github-mcp-server but we definitely need to get this into config for persistence.

This has been fixed as of the v1.0.19-0 pre-release. The /mcp disable and /mcp enable commands now persist across sessions, so running /mcp disable github-mcp-server will keep it disabled without needing to pass --disable-mcp-server each time. If you believe this isn't fully resolved, feel free to reopen this issue.
