I am one of the creators of the Julia Language and also Co-founder and CEO of JuliaHub. Julia is an open source language created at MIT, and is used by a community of a million users worldwide. It solves the two language problem by being as easy as Python but providing C-like performance. While Julia is a general purpose programming language, the community largely consists of scientists and engineers with a focus on technical computing and scientific machine learning.
Julia was created completely on github and has over 12,000 packages that are all developed on Github. The Julia package manager itself is also deeply integrated with Github. It is also the foundation of a number of commercial systems such as Dyad (modeling & simulation), Pumas (life sciences), Beaco Bio (healthcare), Relational AI (databases) and many others.
Prior to Julia, I helped architect Aadhaar, India's social security platform. I have a Ph.D. in computer science from UC Santa Barbara.
