Description
With the new capability planning to be introduced, we should leverage in-app messaging and enablement to help users discover and get the most out of the new capabilities. We will introduce a graph-specific walkthrough experience in the welcome view that can be accessed from specific placements in GitLens.
Requirements
- Add an icon to the commit graph header to callout the new walkthrough experience for new features in the commit graph
- The annotation should display once, clicking 'see what's new', 'dismiss' or the button itself should dismiss the annotation and will no longer display to users
- Clicking 'see what's new' or the button itself opens the Welcome view to the new walkthrough
- The button will no longer be highlighted (with the gradient and outline) if the user completes this version of the walkthrough experience
- The new graph-specific welcome experience has it's own set of steps and completion state
- See design, including steps
- The steps can be completed simply by clicking on the action in the step
- Clicking on the 'GitLens Walkthrough' banner in the Home view should open the Welcome view back to the main walkthrough experience
- New installs should see the main walkthrough just as they did before this release - that is not changing and should be the default.
