Important Update: Gemini CLI Has Stopped Serving Requests for Individual Accounts

Today, June 18, 2026, marks the official transition of our terminal experience from Gemini CLI to the new Antigravity CLI. Starting today, Gemini CLI will stop serving requests for Google AI Pro, Google AI Ultra, and free tier individual accounts.

Enterprise users with Gemini Code Assist licenses and API key authentication remain completely unaffected.

We know this is a significant transition, and we’ve heard your feedback on our initial announcement loud and clear. Shifting workflows is never easy, and we deeply appreciate your patience and candor as we consolidate our development efforts behind the broader Antigravity suite.

🌟 The Path Forward: Antigravity CLI

To keep building agentic workflows in your terminal, please migrate to the new Antigravity CLI. This tool serves as our unified, agent-first terminal experience, sharing a backend harness with our desktop platform to execute complex tasks.

As a reminder, the Antigravity CLI will automatically detect your local Gemini CLI directory during installation and copy over your configurations:

• Skills. Your custom and installed skills will be automatically imported.
• MCP Servers. All configured Model Context Protocol servers will be migrated.
• Agents. Your existing agent profiles and setups will remain intact.
• Memory compatibility. Antigravity CLI maintains full compatibility with your existing gemini.md files to preserve your project memory.

You can install the Antigravity CLI immediately using the command for your host platform:

lost my context. I had good context, this is what was the most important thing. Now it's trashed. Any way to move context from gemini-cli to agy? like --resume or something? jesus christ. this is ridiculous.

Launch dead gemini cli, choose use API key, input garbage like 13423141234, it will show up previous session, type

/chat share conversation.md

launch agy, tell it to read previous chat from file.

Very unfortunate and inconvenient. Agy doesn't show diff that it is about to write to a file. Model usage quota is not shown real-time. Quotas seem to be different, and reset weekly not daily. I contemplated subscribing for paid quota with Gemini CLI, but Agy is a major setback for me.

I paid a subscription fee for Gemini and Gemini-Cli. Since the latter product has been discontinued, I think I'm entitled to a refund. I think there will be some kind of class action lawsuit, at least from Europe.

And so ... the quota we used to have on gemini-cli (gemini 2.5 pro, 3.1 flash lite ... with separated quota) is just lost into the sea or there is any way to get it back? Because i know it was overly generous in the beginning of antigravity (i've installed it first day) but right now it's just unusable, last way to use ur tools was to have gemini cli in backup to at least finalise the half-changed code from agy.
If we had least still had the separated flash/pro quota. I still don't get why offering opus/sonnet if it means 10 time less gemini quota.

Looking through the issue list, it seems that agy isn't yet ready but you've already made the decision to disable gemini-cli.

The repo's README is barebones, the documentation over on the docs site is incomplete, and isn't mentioning the CLI args.

The installer is a curl | bash script, instead of npm/npx. I'm not sure I relish the idea of agy auto updating itself, I'd rather it done through a package manager.

Your installer currently clutters both .profile and .bashrc for no good reason.

The themes are mostly unreadable when it comes to diffs except the first one, I strongly suggest actually testing them across OSes. I noticed some of the diffs seem broken too.

I think this transition could have been handled a lot better: develop agy while gemini-cli continues to function, and then give users a proper migration path with timelines. Instead this approach will continue to erode any trust remaining in the longevity of Google offerings.
