What is the problem?
I am experiencing a severe issue where the gemini-cli hangs indefinitely without returning any response or error message. I have let a single request run for over 6 hours, and it still hasn't replied.
The issue is strictly tied to my specific network/IP. When I use gemini-cli at home on my personal network, it works perfectly fine. However, when I run the exact same command on my university's server, it completely hangs.
Affected Server IP: 130.153.192.238 (University of Electro-Communications, Japan)
It appears that this educational IP address might have been incorrectly flagged and blocked/restricted by the API's firewall. I am using this purely for my academic studies and research. Could you please help check why this IP is being blocked and remove the restriction?
What did you expect to happen?
The CLI should successfully connect and return the generated response normally, exactly as it does on my home network, instead of hanging silently for hours. If there is a network block, it should ideally return a timeout or connection error rather than hanging indefinitely.
Additional context
Environment: University of Electro-Communications (UEC) Server
Region: Tokyo, Japan
IP Address: 130.153.192.238
Could you please check if there are any active blocks on this IP range? If the IP blocking is handled by the underlying Gemini API rather than the CLI itself, could you please point me to the right place to appeal this block? Thank you
