where are all the files?

I'm wondering where all the data is stored? id like to copy it for back up and if possible to use elsewhere. but i seem to be unable to locate and files at all. its like the program doesn't exists.

A Prometheus exporter is a service that collects metrics from a system, application, or hardware and exposes them over an HTTP endpoint in Prometheus format.

Prometheus uses a pull model: it periodically scrapes the exporter’s endpoint, reads the metrics, and converts them into time-series data.

Exporters themselves do not store data. They only provide the current metric values.

All collected metrics are stored by the Prometheus server in its local time-series database (TSDB) on disk.

You should check your Prometheus server (or whatever you use as the TSDB).

i did there nothing there. its running in docker just as instructed to run it. there are 0 files i can find of any telemitry data

Assuming you used the default docker-compose.yml provided in this repo then docker is configured to use 2 named volumes:

volumes:
    prometheus_data:
    grafana_data:

Depending on your host OS the files will be stored somewhere on your drive but as you have found not in an easily recognisable/workable form.

There are various apps and methods to back them up. Now you know your data will be in a docker volume you can easily search for "backing up docker volumes" and find many guides.
