What Happened?

Not establish connection in VPN mode.
In Proxy mode connection established successfully.

Minimal Reproducible Example (MRE)

1. Set VPN mode
2. Tap to connect

See the message "Unexpected failure - failed to start background core"
In the application log see the message "FATAL inbound/tun[tun-in]: configure tun interface: operation not permitted"

Expected Behavior

Expected establish connection also in VPN mode.

It's a permissions issue, I ran into the same problem. Fix permissions with something like:

sudo setcap 'cap_net_admin,cap_net_bind_service=+ep' $(readlink -f $(which hiddify))

And then declare Hiddify as a globally trusted library path with ldconfig (find the path to hiddify and the libf folder, then add a .conf with the paths, for me it's in /opt)

This worked for me - not sure if it's the recommended workaround or not.
