DEPENDENCIES.md — Internal Edges + External Packages

Last updated: 2026-05-03 (v1.0.0 callout added; Island A internal-edge section dates to 2026-04-23 and is now superseded — see v1.0 note below) Author: Védis Eikleið (Cartographer); v1.0 callout by Runa Gridweaver Scope: Actual import edges between directories, and declared external dependencies per sub-project manifest. Companion scrolls: MAP.md (top-level map), ARCHITECTURE.md (layers), DATA_FLOW.md (state movement).

v1.0 note (2026-05-03). The "Island A — Mythic Vibe CLI" internal-edge table below was written when the CLI had ~6 source files. v1.0.0 ships ~150 source files across ~15 subpackages. The cross-island invariant ("nothing in Island A imports anything from any other island") still holds — that's the load-bearing claim. For the v1.0 internal-edge ownership map, the authoritative source is now docs/DOMAIN_MAP.md §4 (~25-row table) and docs/ACTIVE_PRODUCT_BOUNDARY.md "Current Runtime Modules" (~38-row table). v1.0 also added ADR-0009 governing cross-subpackage imports inside mythic_vibe_cli/. The cross-subpackage drift gate is mythic_vibe_cli.robustness.api_audit.audit_api_surfaces.

v1.0 declared external dependencies (active-product CLI)

The runtime base (pyproject.toml [project.dependencies]) is empty — Mythic Vibe CLI v1.0.0 has zero non-stdlib runtime dependencies. Every external package is opt-in via an extra:

The complete CycloneDX SBOM at docs/security/sbom.json enumerates every transitive dependency for the documented extras (regenerable via python scripts/regenerate_sbom.py).

The v1.0 binding compatibility-policy (docs/compatibility_policy.md §6) says: dependency floors are pinned in pyproject.toml; ceilings are NOT pinned. Floor bumps are PATCH if within a major (e.g. >=8.0 → >=8.5); MINOR if a new optional surface introduces a new dep family. The SBOM is the authoritative inventory for any installed environment.

The historical Island A → Island E survey below remains accurate for what it covers (cross-island edges, dormant-island internal structure). It is no longer comprehensive for the v1.0 active-product internal edges.

1. Internal edges — island by island

1.1 Island A — Mythic Vibe CLI

Verified by reading all six files in mythic_vibe_cli/.

1.3 Island C — MindSpark ThoughtForge

  • 140 occurrences of from thoughtforge / import thoughtforge across 48 files, all inside mindspark_thoughtform/.
  • Zero references from anywhere else in the repo.
  • External dependencies declared in mindspark_thoughtform/requirements.txt:

None of these is imported by any non-upstream file in this repo.

1.6 Island boundary — research_data

  • research_data/src/wyrdforge/ uses from wyrdforge.* imports internally — a partial copy of the WYRD package (models/runtime/schemas/security/services). It is not a sibling of WYRD; it shares the package name wyrdforge, so if both are on sys.path, the later one wins and the earlier is shadowed.
  • research_data/ has its own pyproject.toml (declares wyrdforge v0.x, likely earlier snapshot).
  • research_data/tests/ has only 2 files (test_memory_and_persona, test_micro_rag_and_truth), each identical-or-near-identical to WYRD counterparts.

2. Repo-level external dependencies — what the CLI actually needs

The root Mythic Vibe CLI declares zero third-party dependencies. It uses only Python stdlib (argparse, json, sqlite3, urllib, pathlib, dataclasses, textwrap, datetime).
